Western Red Cedar is Green

How is it green and why?

1. Natural and good looking - Thats why I like it - everything else is icing.
2. Natural resistant to decay and insects - no need for toxic pesticides and chemicals
3. Does not deform - even grain less apt to warp crack or split
4. Good insulation properties and acoustics
5. It is lightweight and uses less energy to install
6. It can be recyled and regenerated
7. Low imbedded energy to create - less carbon footprint
8. Fully biodegradable - will not be in a land fill
9. Many color options and looks
10.It smells so good

As always make sure the supply of any wood is coming from a source that is using and meeting the guidelines of sustainable forest management. ie reforestation and harvesting techniques.

I know it not easy but look for labels and research and find out where the product is coming from. Ask questions demand information stating they are in fact meeting these requirements.

Look for the Western Red Cedar Lumber Association for more guidance on making sure the cedar on your project is sustainable.

Remember to tread lightly or less
